I can help if you want to…
…bring about change
Well-chosen words
can be powerful levers for change and I admire people who are willing to speak
out for what they believe in. I enjoy working with those who are breaking new
ground, challenging injustice and supporting vulnerable people. I can help your
campaign or cause by writing case studies and feature articles; by researching
and writing reports; or by co-authoring policy documents.
I have written on behalf of campaigns for carers, for homeless women
and for voluntary organisations. I have been an advisor for Turkey to the Hamlet Trust, which supports mental
health NGOs (non-governmental organisations) in Eastern Europe. I am interested in commissions to support human rights
work and freedom of expression.
….design and/or develop your learning materials
I can design and
write learning materials for any academic level. I use language that is clear
and straightforward, even when the subject matter is complex. Nobody should
ever be made to feel stupid, especially when they are learning. My experience
has been in the community, health and social policy fields but I’m always open
to new areas.
I have worked as a trainer and facilitator before becoming a writer. I have written training materials for many clients and was a senior distance learning author for the Royal College of Nursing Institute until 2007. I have helped to design and develop learning resources for RCN trade union representatives across the UK.
….make your
research accessible
Good
research should be used, shared and put into practice. I can help you reach a
wide audience for your social policy research. I will edit your findings to
produce a succinct and accessible publication. I have worked with researchers funded by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation and the Economic and
Social Research Council, re-writing reports, compiling summaries and ‘Findings’
for a wide audience.
